PLACROSYM
The Plantation Crops Symposium (PLACROSYM) was initiated in the year 1978. PLACROSYM is held biennially under the aegis of different Research Organizations/ Institutions engaged in research and development of plantation crops in the country. The objective of this symposium is to provide a common forum for interaction between the scientists and stakeholders engaged in plantation crops sector. This symposium will cover all aspects of research, development and extension of spices and plantation crops, including Genetics and Breeding, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Agronomy and Soil Science, Pests and Diseases, Physiology and Biochemistry, Harvesting and Post-harvest Processing Technology, Value Addition, Product Development and Diversification, Quality Control, Value chain, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Technology Transfer and Extension, etc. The crops include Tea, Coffee, Spices, Rubber, Coconut, Areca nut, Oil Palm, Cashew, Cocoa and other plantation crops of commercial importance.
About the host institute
The Indian Cardamom Research Institute (ICRI) under Spices Board India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India has its main Research Station at Myladumpara, Idukki, Kerala. ICRI, with its two Regional Stations at Sakleshpur Hassan District, Karnataka and Thadiankudisai Dindigul District Tamil Nadu, focus on location-specific research interventions for small cardamom growing areas in the Western Ghats. Another Regional Station functions at Tadong, Gangtok, Sikkim specifically for research on large cardamom, an important plantation crop of Sikkim, Darjeeling District of West Bengal and other North Eastern States.
ORAL & POSTER PRESENTATION
The Symposium includes Inaugural Session with Keynote and Presidential addresses, lead talks by experts on various themes as well as oral and poster presentations. Selection of the oral presentation is strictly based on technical merit of the papers, as decided by the screening committee. In order to provide reasonable time slot for discussion, only limited number of papers will be considered for oral presentations. Both oral and poster presentations will have equal status and sufficient time will be provided for discussion in the respective sessions.

Abstracts of the selected papers for presentation (both oral and poster) in the Symposium would be published in the ‘Book of Abstracts’ as soft copy will be provided in the form of USB pen drive. Papers presented in PLACROSYM XXIV that fulfil the norms of ‘Journal of Plantation Crops’ would be published in the Journal, after peer reviewing.

REGISTRATION
Only registered delegates are permitted to attend and participate in the symposium. They are entitled to receive all relevant publications of the symposium as well as food and refreshments.
